Legacy Telecoms Equipment in Latin America

The Latin American telecoms sector is one of the highest potential growth markets in the world. Over the last 20 years, Government privatisation and liberalisation has opened up the market to competition. This, along with economic stability and growth and consumer demand has seen revenue from the data communications sector soar.

De-regulation, increased purchasing power from lower social economic status groups, extensive broadband reach and Government-encouraged investment in communications services and infrastructure has also paved the way for an upsurge in the prepaid mobile sector. For many Latin American consumers, their first experience of the internet is in fact via a mobile phone, with Smartphones accounting for 15% of the mobile device market.

In the business telecoms sector, organisations are slowly switching to VoIP, however demand for legacy telecoms equipment in Latin America continues.

Organisations using traditional PBX hardware, who are not in a position to change to a cloud-hosted solution, or feel that this is not an appropriate solution for their business, can continue to maintain their systems long after they have been declared EOL (end of life) by the original manufacturer. MF Communications supplies a wide range of telecoms hardware equipment from major manufacturers including Alcatel, Alcatel-Lucent, Avaya, Cisco, Ericsson/Aastra, Nortel & Siemens/Unify.

An extensive remanufacturing process takes place at their Kent-based warehouse in the UK. Each piece is taken apart and fully tested, before new parts are added and further testing takes place. The equipment is boxed and sold as-new, along with a full guarantee.

This remanufacturing process comes with a reassurance of high quality products and service and is a testament to the successful operation of MF Communications, supplying telecoms equipment and hardware to over 100 countries around the world.

A recent deal involved supplying 300 remanufactured Alcatel 4035 telephones to a maintainer in South America. The Alcatel 4035 is an Advanced Reflexes telephone. A multi-line phone, with an integrated keyboard and QWERTY key board, plus a two-line by forty character display screen, the Alcatel 4035 is ideal for use in reception areas or for users who filter calls to other areas.

MF Communications also recently supplied $18K of legacy Siemens hardware, to support another Latin American company with multiple sites. This included Siemens Hipath 3000 and Hipath 4000 system spare parts.
