UK comes out tops for mobile and broadband tariffs

UK one of cheapest EU countries for 3G and 4G mobile and broadband

The United Kingdom has been named as one of the most inexpensive countries in the European Union for 3G and 4G based Mobile and Broadband services.

A study, conducted by Empirica, on behalf of the European Commission (EC), examined the 2018 Mobile and Broadband offers for consumers in the EU28 countries plus Iceland, Norway, Turkey, Japan, South Korea, and the USA.

Taking into account contractual features affecting usage costs such as one-off fees, discounts, contract duration, and limits for telephony call time, numbers of SMS, and data volumes, the results were then normalised.

The results of the study found that prices for Mobile Broadband centric plans have fallen significantly across the EU since 2017. Overall, the most inexpensive countries in the EU were Italy, Poland, Austria, France, the United Kingdom, Luxembourg and Finland. In contrast, the most expensive countries were the Czech Republic and Cyprus.
