Cisco is a San Francisco-based American company, operating since 1984. A designer, manufacturer and seller of IP-based networking products and services, Cisco supports businesses of all sizes.

Recent Cisco news will see a development in its IP-based services and applications. A proposed partnership with Apple, announced last month, will bring iPhone business calls onto corporate networks.
Many Organisations operate legacy applications, some on old mainframes. This means current IT infrastructure has to manage the use of both desktop and virtual applications, in order to accommodate the increasing use of BOYD.

Recognising the importance of iOS devices in the workplace, it’s thought that Cisco and Apple will bring together the two technologies, by optimising networks for iOS devices and providing apps to allow employees to access vital corporate data. This is good news for iOS devices in terms of prioritisation of data traffic, streamlining data flows and software updates. It will also allow tracking of calls, as well as logging for security and regulation compliance.
